Topic: solid waste
Objective: to identify the solid waste.

Solid waste includes garbage, construction debris, commercial refuse, sludge from water supply or waste treatment plants, or air pollution control facilities, and other discarded materials. Solid waste can come from industrial, commercial, mining, or agricultural operations, and from household and community activities.

Solid waste can be classified into different types depending on their sources:
       a. Municipal Solid Waste (MSW):
       b. Hazardous Wastes:
       c. Industrial Wastes:
       d. Agricultural Wastes:
       e. Bio-Medical Wastes:
Solid waste storage” means the interim containment of solid waste, in an approved manner, after generating and prior to collection and disposal.
Storage container” means a garbage can, dumpster or other container used or designed for the deposit or storage of solid waste before transport to the landfill.



1.    Dump trucks for contaminated soils.
2.    Tankers and vacuum trucks for liquid and semi-solid waste.
3.    Intermodal and gondola railroad transport for containerized waste and contaminated soils.
4.    Live floor trailers for compacted or top loaded solid waste.
5.    Flatbeds and dry van trailers for drum handling.
6.    Container and roll off chassis.



A transfer station is a building or processing site for the temporary deposition of waste. Transfer stations are often used as places where local waste collection vehicles will deposit their waste cargo prior to loading into larger vehicles.
