TOPIC: Foundation of the army defending national sovereignty.

OBJECTIVE: to know how was the foundation of the army defending national sovereignty.

On sepetmber 2, 1927 Sandino met his men. It was on the hill of the chipote, his headquarters, where the constiturnt document of the Defense Army of national sovereignty was written.

The eight columns were under the command of the general.

 Each of themhad a territorial área, their men, including their generals, were mostly peasants and  artisans  from Segovia; But there were also other places mostly from Segovia; but there were other places in the country and Central America.

Some leaders excelled in the Guerrilla struggle. Among them we can mention: Francisco estrada, Juan Pablo Umanzor, Pedro Altamirano, Juan Gregorio Colindres, Ramon Raudales, Santos Lopez, as well as the Angeles choir, made up of Young fighters. They carried out difficult missions and passed tough test.

The combatants tried to avoid prolonged fighting and retired in a orderly manner along paths that only they knew, and then gathered in a comfortable place leaving to trace and collecting their casualities. They were informed with the peasant population of the position of the Americans.

Experience  in combat, military discipline and courage allowed Sandino and his army to face the superiority of enemy weapons, always under the motto: “homeland” and freedom”.
