Topic: Nicaraguan economy in (81857-1893)
Objective: to how was the economy in Nicaragua in 1857-1893.
the economy in Nicaragua continued being susbsistence and the production of basic grains.
The cocoa farms were declining due to the lack of an external market. the owners of the cocoa plantations were Frenchmen who owned large estates.
Indigo lost in those years its main market:England, because it came to have its own suppliers in India.
That is how the coffee cultivation arose and later became the main export product, cultivation that began in the mid-nineteenth century in the mountains of Managua due to population concentration, as well as favorable climate and fertile soil.
Nicaragua also included sugar cane, tobacco, cotton,and wood in its prouction, but in small proportions. livestock continued being an important export product and was spread throughout the territory although unevenly.
